Strictly as an aside, (as Zampanò would say), it's interesting how if you search for "Hatian" you get nothing except that colossal dungheap of a thread started by On a Map of whatever, and if you read that you'd get the impression everyone here was a bunch of arseholes. But if you search for "Haitian" you get lots of fun and interesting threads, including the one I just linked to, which conveys a spirit of mutual discovery and respect. Strange how a single letter can make such a difference.

Or else it could be that ten years ago that was the standard tenor of discussions around here, whereas now all we do is make snide remarks and argue about bullshit. But we all know that's not true: it's always been both.
