This is an acrostic for Zampano. Could be a part of the phrase "My dear Zampano who did you lose?" in some form or another.

Hello to everyone. I just signed up in the forum, I'm italian, though living in France; I have my copy of di foglie here, and I can help with this post (it's from one year ago, but I hope it will help).

In facts, the complete acrostic on page 759 is:
Cospicui anni rovinati o zelantemente abbattuti. Meraviglie premeditate a neutralizzarmi (o cancellarmi?): hall, istituti... Hai almeno intimo pensiero, errante ragazzo, di una terribile opera?
which makes: "Caro Zampanò chi hai perduto?". That's the correct and complete italian translation of "My dear Zampano who did you lose?".

    I hope that was useful.

    Best regards
