Before posting on Facebook and other social media, we wanted everyone here on the boards to know first: the US release of The Fifty Year Sword will include a special edition with a first printing of around 1,000 books, featuring a Nepalese binding, enclosed in a custom box. As you probably expected, books will also be signed with color-specific signatures.

The limited edition may be pre-ordered now from various bookstores. Here are a few options to get you started (yes, we know none of these sites has an accurate description):

I imagine if you ordered a "special edition" then you should receive one. Now, the question is whether the autographed versions are "special" special editions.

Yeah, I realized

1. I was being silly
2. that I just hadn't seen the Deluxe Edition on Amazon when I went to order
3. that there was in fact more than one edition on Amazon at all, as opposed to the state of things during my previous perusals
4. that my assumption that only the first however many ordered of the standard edition were going to be Deluxe, not that there was a separate page.

So I was a little overzealous, and had to cancel my order for a standard edition and hope not to be berated too much for my wide-eyed concern over the possibility of missing out on this edition.

Because on the io9 thing right now it is listing the price as $100

One concern - I live in the UK and after hurriedly ordering the deluxe from Amazon.com I saw it for sale on Amazon.co.uk (no longer) for an RRP of about 30 quid. Now anyone vaguely familiar with current exchange rates can tell this doesn't even touch $100.
I put the question of price and availability to Pantheon who replied: "the author has not authorized us to distribute this work in the United Kingdom and editions will not be made available to Amazon to ship to addresses in the UK".

WTF!!!!!

After speaking to amazon they tell me there are no shipping restrictions but it sure does worry me. Just wanted to put it out there for any fellow Brits or elsewhere outside of the US that have an order in place. Sorry that it was longwinded getting here!

I would think, if you ran into problems with Amazon not wanting to ship to the UK, that one of us in the US would happily accept your
shipment and then forward it to you.

I would offer this service if needed.

Thats a damn fine offer. Such courtesy. If only everyone could do the same. I'm gonna believe the Amazon rep for the time being and trust that it will arrive, though you may hear me screaming from the other side of the Atlantic come November if it doesn't!
