This maybe Stretching things a bit but what if the single mother from Ludes apartments at the beginning of HoL has a daughter and she's the one who finds a kitten? like i said maybe a stretch but what isn't these days?

A single mother who got up every morning at six also noted Zampano's absence. She went off to work, Lude went off to bed, but when dusk came and their old neighbor had still not appeared, both Lude and the single mother went to alert Flaze, the resident building manager.

Is this the only instance of that woman?

Also, the child could be male. Lots of unknowns here.

That is the only reference i've come across so maybe its not an accurate what if. Oh well.

When Johnny reveals the truth, on pg. 509, he reports that he is actually in Los Gatos, California, Los Gatos Lodge, in fact.

This might be a significant link, especially with the link to Dr. Nowell. (The significance will vary depending how you interpret that story.)
