yeah, thanks a lot for that. interesting that the title evolved too.
I think the most interesting image is the fourth one, which illustrates the relationship of the history gutter to the story. I have had a hard time making implicit connections, but this seems to show that the words MZD uses correlate heavily with what was going on at the time.

Excellent.
I also like how the fifth one has dots where the animals will be inserted later. I wonder if the number of dots means anything?
Maybe the number of letters ? (only supposition, because on my computer, the enlarged pic is not clear enough)

I really like the term "chronomosaic" (MZD name for the history gutter) because that's what it; is a mosaic made of time :)
Maybe the number of dots represents how many syllables need to be filled up? I'm not sure about all the ins and outs of whatever meter there is in OR, but my experience is that there's definitely a rhythm at the very least and he probably had one in mind.
Joy ! A draft !

I finally got a copy of this today. I'm thankful to Mark for sharing this with us!

In the voice of Henrietta Pussycat: "Meow meow Danielewski meow, meow Familiar? Meow 27 meow! Meow meow we meow tour meow year."
Google translated version: "Have you heard of Danielewski`s project, The Familiar? It is 27 volumes! We hope we can tour for it next year."
You were there, and we were too.

How did you get yours JT? I tried emailing them several months ago but never got a response.
All men are islands, influenced by the wind.
We did that too, but I was determined to find one. I found one used on Google from a bookseller called Books Inc.Originally Posted by heartbreak

Ok cool. I'll try the second hand shops. Thanks for the info.

Could we try to type/transcript the first page of the first manuscript ?
It is incredible to read those pages : it's not the story we know
it's before it became, before it came.
The pre-history of the story.
What a chance to see the text evolving ... morphing to its final state.
Sharp, powerful, lyrical.
Because it's been around, sharpened, aimed, linked.
Not exactly "simply piling up word together" as i've read in a disappointed critic of OR on the web.

ONLY EVOLUTIONS
- These, now, here, for Anna Barthelme
Anna Barthelme : who may that be ?
The name comes up in a movie called Inside Out
and... in houseofleaves.com about Hey Pretty.
More info ? A muse ? An inspiration ? An hommage ? A crush ?

Barthelme: Don had a daughter named Anne, according to Wikipedia.
