    Why'd you change it?

    And where'd *o*'s signature go?

And I found a thread (old one, from 2004) by *o* where he links to this thread. Wonder what he's cooking? Here's the thread: A nice look into the 20 th century.

    Erm...Okaaay.

I've always wanted to know what a Norweigan Leonard Cohen would sound like, so thanks. For an encore, could you translate some Suzanne Vega into Finnish?

I've gone through purges of my posts in the past, to keep the numbers down. I delete all the arguments, and occasionally some of the stuff that really didn't relate to anything, but I have never deleted a post someone actually seemed interested in, and certainly never deleted a HoL-related post.

Since I am adopting a stance of superiority and disdain, in memory of *o*, I haven't bothered to look at what has been deleted, but if he has deleted anything of any real value (admittedly only about 10% of his posts), then that would be a great shame, and rather selfish on his part.

However, I don't imagine *o* sees it that way. Talking about it is fairly pointless because if *o* wasn't rigidly trapped by his own view of things, and if he hadn't made up his mind before the debate on something is even opened, he simply wouldn't be the *o* we all know. He also claims that we don't know him, of course, which seems to stand as the ultimate self contradiction; a fault *o* has recently strived to unmask in others.

    Aaargh!

*o*, I can just about understand your deleting posts in this forum (even though I wish you wouldn't) but on the main forum? You're decimating a lot of worthwhile topics. Don't do it you fool!

I have a theory - he's under indictment for murder, and he's trying to erase all evidence that might support the lead detective's notion that *o* is quick to anger and given to irrational outbursts.

    Or...maybe not...I don't know

It's like a Dan Brown novel. I can only imagine a bunch of computer nerds gathered around a monitor, watching *o*'s posts disappear one by one.

    Cheesy dialogue for the scene:

    O'Brian: "It's beginning."
    Durst: "My god..."
O'Brian: "At this rate, we'll have total post eradication within...(checks watch)...72 hours."
Miss Paltran: "I never thought he'd do it. I know him...I...I thought I knew him."
Durst: (Turning away from the screen, grimly) "We all thought we knew him. We all--"
    O'Brian: "--Not to interrupt, but...look!"

It seems there are plenty of important post of his that have dissapeared. It is sad and a loss. A few that I actually wanted to refer to the other day in this, my own most intense exploration of the I feel sorry.
However, the same happened to works of Saphos and Plato. And what's more important than the text is how the text affected us. Our reactions are still there though our friend (paranoid of our feelings of him that he is) seems to be eating himself alive.

Ha! Can you take a screenshot of what it looks like?

I deleted one the other day from this thread. I put a link in there... then deleted it.

Heh, ^^^that up there^^^ makes me look like a right inconsiderate bastard. Ellimist's agonizing with his conscience over whether to put up f_s's pdf, his conscience gets the better of him and he deletes it, then I wade in with my size nines and stick it up without so much as a by-your-leave.

At the time, I didn't know you'd done that, honest!

Hmm. I see what you're saying. All we can do is wait for the *o* Renaissance when surely his greatest works will once again see the light of day. The Turks (cyber-terrorists) will sack Byzantium (the HoL servers) and scholars of *o*'s works will be sent to the corners of the earth, taking with them the precious manuscripts (bits of code) that remain the sole record of this philosopher-king's genius. Then it will take a Cosimo de' Medici (naught?) to recover the artefacts and set the greatest minds of a generation to work interpreting and publishing them.

Until that day, all we have are memories.

unfortunately i am too much a young'n to remember this *o*. Were his posts insightful and thought provoking?
