    Riddle me this...

(a little batman referrance for all you comic fans out there)

With so many codes and riddles in HoL (in general) I though we could start a riddle thread (obviously) to post riddles we know.

    See who's the smartest

Anyway, I heard this recently and got it straight away. So it's an easy one to get the ball started:

If the pen is mightier then the sword, which bird is mightier then the Eagle?

    Let the head fucks commence...

This is really throwing me off - I can't decide whether you misspelled "than" on purpose or not.

    the secretary bird.

Aight...now I tell one...If you've heard this one before, lemme know, but dont give away the answer...lets make the ignoramoose suffer a smidge, n'est ce-pas?

After a forest fire, a man is found dead in the middle of what's left in the forest in SCUBA gear.
There were no lakes, streams, creeks, or bodies of water large enough to swim in inside the forest prior to its being toasted.
The man did not die from drwoning, burns, or Carbon Monoxide inhalation...in short, he did not die from fire or water.

How did he die, and how did he end up there?
I can\'t get over the way women are shaped, and I will go to my grave wanting to pet their butts and boobs. I will say, too, that lovemaking, if sincere, is one of the best ideas Satan put in the apple she gave to the serpent to give to Eve. The best idea in the apple, though, is making jazz.

Either A. He walked into the forest thinking there was a pool there so he could practise his SCUBA techniques or
    B. He was murdered, dressed in a SCUBA outfit and put there to confound the authorities or
    C. He was doing his SCUBA thing in the ocean and the planes that pick up the water and drop it on forest fires happened to scoop him up with the water so he probably died from massive internal injuries from the fall or he ran out of oxygen on the plane ride.
Could be one of the three, I'm really not sure. I can't think of a riddle off the top of my head and I have to go so I will post one later if someone doesn't do it for me.
    I've missed you guys.

A boy was about to go on his first date. Since he had never embraced a girl before, he was anxious to learn how to do it. He went to the public library and saw a book entitled How to Hug. He took it home to read, only to be greatly disappointed by it's contents. It gave him no useful tips. Why not?

Is Hug some martial art, or something?

    No hands?

Is the book in some foreign language?

Does Hug mean something else in some foreign language?

Then how'd he read? Surely if he's blind he won't take a typed book home to read by himself.

Braille, you say? Well, then if he did read the book cause it was Braille, then he surely would know how to hug.

Also, Friday says that the boy saw a book.

Or is there something you know that I don't?

I reckon How to Hug must be one volume of a multi-volume dictionary. The next volume presumably being 'Huge to Hydrophobia' or something. It would have to be a pretty huge dictionary, or one with very short volumes for it to work, though.

You mean f_s really did get it?

I'm afraid I still don't understand the solution. Someone explain it to me like you'd explain it to a drunk donkey, please.

If a multi-volume enyclopedia (not dictionary, f_s, but close enough) started at the word how and ended at the word hug, it would be called How to Hug.

    Hard stuff

And besides, if it was a multivolume encyclopedia, there'd at least be some indication about what part the boy picked up. Something like Vol. 1, Vol. 2, printed on the cover itself.

Let's hope the next riddle has an answer that is actually related to the riddle; or that the riddle actually contains the clue to solve it.

    An old one, but.....

A man lives in a block of flats on the 20th floor. Every day he goes to work, and when he comes home he gets in the lift. However, he only gets in the lift to the 15th floor, and walks the remaining 5 floors. Why?

The lift works fine, and goes up to the 20th floor. (Thought that may be the first question).

I first solved that riddle when I was seven. SEVEN. It's really not that hard. Don't be bitter because f_s got the answer before you did.

You (or perhaps it was someone else) asked this is an old thread. I've read all the old threads.

The answer is that he's a dwarf, and in the rainy season (which you didn't add here, but it was there in the old thread) he carries an umbrella so he can push the button for the 20th floor with it.

Now why would I be bitter that f_s got it? I'd only be bitter if katkiller got it before I did.

Now where the hell are the clues in this one? There aren't any, thankyouverymuch.

    Same person.

And the thread with all the riddles was this one. A word of warning though, changes in the background colour of the board since that was posted have meant that the answers are no longer hidden. Just so you know.

Now perhaps it's because I know the answer, but I think there is a clue in this one. Farehamer mentions that the lift works fine. And as far as I can remember, perfectly all right lifts conventionally have buttons arranged in ascending order from bottom to top.

A slight variation of Farehamer's riddle is replacing the man by a little girl who goes to violin classes every Thursday (she uses the bow to push the button).
