Anybody attempt to reconstruct the burned out text from chapter XIII(The Minotaur) parts 8 & 9?
I'm working on it, but I don't have time to post what I've got right now, just wondering if anyone already has their interpretation. Also wondering if the part numbers have contextual meaning. If you look at part 12, the last one, where Tom dies, that made me think of an earlier footnote, #292. It relates to part 12 of the Holloway tape, questioning the existence of it, and part twelve's description was lost. Just a thought.
I'll check back here when I'm not busy and try to type it up.

So... just what percentage of sutrix's 4000 plus posts have you read?
You're starting to sound very familiar...

Hi, Cord.
Nah man, it can't be. Look:
I earned my minor in English in '06
When I was earning my degree in english ( i am eating chips with my left hand)
With respect to my writing, I minored in English
I have a minor in English and I would love to write in Palatino Linotype but with all the tantrums, I made a personal sacrifice.
Compare:
I'm (obviously) not an English major
:eusa_think:
Actually, he might still be a minor. Only one way to find out: x_d, which hand do you eat your chips with?

Depends on which personality's switched on today, I say. ;)

i dunno, outta the loop on the music scene. to dispell any more wondering over whether this guy (who also has great taste in thumbnails, where'd you find that house?) I only log on here at work, later at night and not on the weekends when I am off work. it's always been that way, detectives.

I was looking for those the other day, wanted to make a sarcastic comment about how if he can go on and on about his minor in English if that meant I could start bragging about my Applied Sciences In Automobile and Diesel Technology degree now... ;)

I'm working on one of those right now. :D
What field of engineering are you in?
sutrix

Mechanical.
But let me confess: it's a waste of time, sleep and photocopy paper. I wouldn't recommend pursuing higher degrees in technical/scientific fields unless you're going after something you really, really, really like.

Wow.
I'm enjoying it so far. Just finished a project yesterday, designing and building a wind powered reading light. Frustrating at times but fun. Go in for final testing tomorrow morning.

Useful for reading in windy places, I suppose, but doesn't that wreak havoc with the pages?

nice. I'm personally going to try for a double major in sound engineering and film production. but yeah the house is actually a piece of album (sort of) artwork for one of Circa Survives B-sides tracks called "The Most Dangerous Commercials". They put it on a limited edition belt (on the buckle) with the words "suppose your being lied to..." on the belt part. they released both from their website to benefit their local record store that defaulted. lol, only took em like a week to raise the money.
But as far as the fall of troy goes, they also happen to have some HOL inspired tracks on doppelganger. Namely, "You Got a Death Wish Johnny Truant?", "The Hol[ ]y Tape", and "Tom Waits". good stuff. If your not familiar, their the guys who did "F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X." which was on Guitar Hero 3.

yeah, it's tight because not only do they have the HOL reference, but its like retaliating for the tom waits song "the fall of troy".

You do know that that song came out 6 years before the band was even formed right?

Dang, Engineering? My hat goes off to ya'll. Someone should change all of us BAs to BS (bull shit) degrees and the current BS degree should be called the BDA (Billy-bad-ass). Compared to those folks who actually had to bury their heads in books and experiments I salute you.
My skills and ability don't have much to do with academia. Being in school gave me a chance to read some great work, learn MAC/Adobe Photoshop, draw and win awards for the campus newspaper, and hook up with a tremendous amount of righteous hotties. Oh, well, at least I can still get a gig as a teacher.

... on IRC sex chat OMG!
But yeah, seriously. Anyone thinking about pursuing a degree purely for the job market, who happens to live in a country without three milllion people applying for the same course for the same reason that very year, should really choose something else and spend those four years doing something productive instead of the degree.
All I learnt in my four years is how big a shithole the education system of my country is.

What kind of problems did you have with your education system, sutrix?
My only problem so far has been with the way they are teaching calculus. From the beginning they tie it into as many different fields as possible, so while I've been trying to get calculus down I'm having to either refresh or learn all the formulas and relations in geometry, economics, production, chemistry, physics. I think they could have served us better, if they had us concentrate on one field, get a rock solid understanding, and then maybe later spend some time showing how it all applies to other areas. As it was it was more confusing then necessary.
As part of the mechanical degree I have a nuclear option, which I will probably take.

What I'm confused about is the Circa Survive / Fall of Troy fan that has a Pixies username.

Sorry we got off topic. I don't have a copy of the book. Not excited about the on-line option of look at a limited number of pages b/c I'll always wanna see another page and flip around.

Going back off topic again, I work in the Electronic and Electrical Engineering department of a university. No as an academic, mind, but as a member of admin staff. The place is full of immensely intelligent people who I suspect would have difficulty tying up their own shoelaces.
