ok, i am rereading this amazing novel and was hoping for some insight but it appears no one is even talking about the book here... so anyway, I in no way claim to have any answers (yet). But if anyone has an interesting point of view on any of the millions of intrigueing bits in the novel, i'd love to hear them...

youve been here a while man, over a year now...you should very well know not everything is about the book on this site. you should also know that there is a search function.

Perhaps we should begin by considering why exactly the word "house" appears in blue. Any insights?

or red in certain cases

My local bookstore actually sells the fully annotated edition of HoL, including all the answers and a complete walkthrough of the adventure. It seems that the "blue"-thingie was based on a misunderstanding by the editor.

It should've read "glue".
When I realised that, the whole book suddenly made sense.

That makes more sense than the "tofu" explanation I heard.

hey, thanks guys. images/smiles/icon_smile.gif Blue is indeed an interesting choice. Especially since it connotates honesty, solidity and trust. (That's why many mens suits are blue and lots of financial institutions have it in their logo). It's supposed to imply something that will be around for a long ass time. So what is Mark saying about evil?

That it either is or isn't made of glue or tofu? images/smiles/icon_confused.gif

ah yeah, aware of the mocking, thanks. am at least college educated. Was appreciating the apparently vain attempt of one chat member to discuss the book. I am also aware of the "search" one can do on the site, however, searching discussions that took place months ago does not really allow for interaction does it? images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif Sheesh. So if y'all don't discuss the novel, what the hell do you talk about?

Most of us are here. Was that supposed to mean something?

it was just supposed to mean i'm not stupid -as it seemed someone else was implying. not saying anything about anyone else. sorry to offend.

I wasn't offended. I was just curious about what you meant.

Carry on.

Well, what do you think the book is about? You start the discussion, then at least you open yourself up to being mock so easily.

For example:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote
The House is a metaphor for family and the emptiness that exists within families.
Now discuss.

and please, feel free to bring up old threads, add to them, and we will reply to them...dont call a thread "um, about the book", attack the status of the board, and then expect people to just open up a discuss on the thread you started. drop us a PZJ theory, and well talk about it, expose holes, fill them in, and generally discuss the book. but you cant expect us to do all the leg work with nothing to work with....

what would you like to discuss? give us your theory. ill actively and joyfully participate in any discussion you start, outside of the word house being in blue.

Well there was a time on the forum that I refer to as the Golden Age when all we talked about was Favourite Cheeses, cool movies and, well, tits.

*gets nostalgic*
*gets boner*

When I first came to the forum (which was actually In October of 2002), most of the threads were still about the book. Maybe we've all been "booked" out. I keep saying I'm going to read it again, but I have all these other books telling me to read them first.

Now I feel guilty that I'm not living up to my HoL forum member obligations. images/smiles/icon_sad.gif

Glue? That's funny - I heard the word house was to appear in flu - a particularly nasty strain of influenza - that was the key to explaining why people felt so light-headed and haunted by the novel - its also why Johnny T's health gets worse. Funny how one little mistake changes everything.

Hmm. My house is plaid. I must have a defective copy.
