Just a few thoughts:
Every time someone finishes their contribution to the House of Leaves, that part of their journey ends. Not necessarily in death, but moving on to the next stage of their life. Will Navidson, after using his last matches to finish the book, finnaly escaped the house. Zampano, after finishing his work on the house, passed on. Johnny Truant, after editing, moved on to not be found. Johnny's mother, after influicing Johnny to find solice in words (contributing to his editing), moved on. See what I'm getting at? Let me know what you think...
